B2 Project Managers Communication Skills
Course Introduction
In project communication management, we generally place high importance on knowledge, techniques and tools that are largely related to the hard skills of formal communication; such as work and responsibility definition, matrix communication analysis, stakeholders analysis, organization breakdown etc.
These hard skills may be important, but their effectiveness are limited. Project work and roles division are often unclear, and depend on work members' active and sincere informal communication, thereby avoiding unnecessary conflicts.
Research shows that communication is usually 70% ineffective. In face-to-face communication, verbal communication effectiveness stands for 7%, non-verbal stands for 93%. Within that, tone stands for 38% and body language stands for 55%. This study shows that many of us are not good at communication. And bad communication is the main killer of people relationship.
Bad communication will cause supervisor-subordinate distrust, colleagues hostility, departments fighting, and company-customer-supplier dispute. It may make us into a difficult boss, headache inducing subordinate, unwelcome colleague, or cut-off friend. It can seriously disrupt our lives, family, work, and can even lead to illness. Where project performance is concerned, it can cause delays, budget overruns, quality problems, scope change and other bad results.
This course aims to teach formal and informal project communication skills. It help students to improve people relationships, resolve conflicts, develop leadership and increase influencing abilities.
